The U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team defeated Mexico 2-1 at Estadio Cementos Progreso claim first place in Group B at the 2010 CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship. As the group winner, the U.S. will face Costa Rica, the second place finisher in Group A, in the first semifinal at 2:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Jan. 28.

The # 2 Virginia men’s soccer team captured its sixth NCAA Championship, and first since 1994, with a 3-2 penalty kick shootout win over #1 Akron following a 0-0 draw in the NCAA Championship final at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Cavaliers (19-3-3) ended the season on a 16-game unbeaten streak.

TAMPA, FL -- United Soccer Leagues officially closed the door on the 2009 awards Friday night at the USL Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner as they recognized outstanding performances by its member teams and executives for the season along with the 2009 USL Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Tampa.

The evening opened with speeches from Gary Mellor of Beswicks Sports and Richard Nightingale of Umbro as well as USL Chairman Rob Hoskins and USL founder Francisco Marcos. It continued with the induction of the 10+ Clubs into the USL Hall of Fame, honoring the Charlotte Lady Eagles, Ottawa Fury and Thunder Bay Chill.
