9th Straight Shutouts

January 15, 2012 by Ray Alley

9th Straight Shutouts.

Senior defender Ines Jaurena (France) capped off Senior Day by converting on a golden goal penalty kick opportunity in the 96th minute of the first overtime period to lead #1 Florida State to a 1-0 victory over #13 Virginia in front of a crowd of 1,379 inside the Seminole Soccer Complex. It was Jaurena who knocked in the eventual game-winner on a penalty kick in the NCAA Quarterfinals against the Cavaliers last year.
The Seminoles picked up their ninth consecutive shutout with the ACC victory over the Cavaliers, pushing their scoreless minutes to a school record 893:40 minutes. FSU has 12 shutouts this year, and redshirt junior goalkeeper Kelsey Wys (Coral Springs, Fla.) played the entire match against UVA, for her eighth shutout of the year. She has a 0.25 goals allowed average.
