ACC Women’s Conference Champs
It was an unusual season for the Virginia women’s soccer team. It turned out to be a championship season.
It began with a loss in the season opener. A 3-1 setback to Penn State at home in Charlottesville.
The Cavaliers would open the 2012 season without their head coach Steve Swanson, and arguably their best player, sophomore Morgan Brian (St. Simons Island, GA). Both were off to the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup in Japan, where Swanson was the head coach and Brian was a key starter.
