AAS Pirates Move Up To #2 In Nation

Georgia and the Peach Belt Conference are well represented in the latest NSCAA Division II women’s Top 25 Coaches Poll.

The Armstrong Atlantic State Pirates are #2 nationally, while the Columbus State Lady Cougars are #10.

Had the outcoming of a meeting back on Sept. 15 been flipped, so to might have been the national rankings.

The Pirates won that game, 1-0. It proved to be the only loss for Columbus State (13-1 overall) thus far this season. A goal by junior Andye Dawson (Senoia, GA) was the margin of victory.

Armstrong Atlantic State (11-1-1) moved up to second in the D-II poll after a 2-1 win over West Florida, which has previously held the #2 spot in the rankings. The Pirates’ loss this season was to #1 ranked Grand Valley State (3-1). They also played Ferris State to a 0-0 draw in a tournament that opened the season.
