Auburn senior goalkeeper Amy Howard (Mandeville, LA), who had 10 saves in the Tigers’ 2-1 victory over Texas Tech, was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Murray State’s Meg Hudson (Murray, KY) ripped a shot at USA keeper Lauren Arnold (Birmingham, AL), who parried the effort towards the penalty spot, where Stevens attacked the loose rebound and netted the game-winner. The Jaguar loss (1-0) is its first in four matches since rebounding from a 9-0 defeat against Alabama on Aug. 31. USA junior defender Jess Oram (Pace, FL) scored the overtime golden goal winner, her first career collegiate goal, off a corner kick in the second overtime period…..The UAB women struggled through the non-conference portion of their season, falling to 1-7 after a 4-3 loss to Florida Atlantic. Claire Emslie (Scotland) put FAU up 2-0 at halftime with a pair of goals, but UAB rallied for three second-half goals to make a game of it. Down 3-0, the Blazers got goals from Ashley Naumoff (Lenoir City, TN), Isabel Shanteau (Huntsville, AL) and Emma Jane Smith (Jacksonville, FL), all within an six-minute span in the closing minutes. Emslie’s third goal of the game with less than two minutes left proved to be the winning goal……Cecilia Thorngren (Sweden) scored her fourth goal of the season in dramatic fashion, burying the game-winner with just 54 seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift Troy (5-2-1) past Elon (1-4-1), 2-1, at the UNCW Courtyard Marriot Wilmington Invitational……University of Montevallo junior Brendan Ledgeway (England) has earned a familiar honor from the Peach Belt Conference after posting shutouts against UAH and UNC Pembroke. It was his fourth PBC Goalkeeper of the Week award.
