The Alabama Soccer Association Annual General Meeting (AGM) is set for Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham-The Wynfrey. Jim Cosgrove, Executive Director for US Youth Soccer, will be the Keynote Speaker at the AGM….Decatur, Ala, has been named the host for the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup championships, June 6-9, 2014. The[show_disconnected][show_to accesslevel=’Subscriber’] regional winners in the boys and girls U13/U17 age groups will advance to the national championships, July 10-13, 2014, in Greenville, SC. Games will be played at the Jack Allen Soccer Complex…..Alexa Allen (Buford, Ga.), who recently transferred from Auburn to N.C. State, has been selected by the Jamaica Football Federation to participate in the CONCACAF U20 Women’s Championship with the Jamaican National Team. Jamaica will meet Guatemala, the United States and Costa Rica in pool play in the regional tournament Jan. 9-19 in the Cayman Islands. Allen appeared in all 25 of the Tigers’ matches in 2012, her freshman year. She transfers as a redshirt sophomore……Birmingham’s Chandler Hoffman was traded by the Philadelphia Union to the Los Angeles Galaxy just before the start of the 2013 season. He is still on the Galaxy roster despite not seeing any time on the field last season in any competition for Los Angeles. Hoffman starred at Oak Mountain HS and was an All-America forward at UCLA before being drafted by the Union. He played in seven games in Philadelphia in 2012…..Former Auburn assistant soccer coach Keidane McAlpine has been named the new women’s head soccer coach at Southern California. McAlpine coached at Auburn from 2006-11 and has been the head coach at Washington State for the past two years….UAB senior midfielder Jasmine Kauka (Kane’ohe, Hawaii) has been named one of 16 recipients of the 2013 Conference USA Fall Spirit of Service Award…..Alabama frshman defender Noelle Sanz has been named to Costa Rica’s U-20 roster for the CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championships in the Cayman Islands, Jan. 9-19. Sanz previously played for Costa Rica’s Under-17 World Cup team. Cost Rica will open the tournament against the United States.
