When Hoover, AL, was awarded the NCAA Men’s Division I College Cup two years ago, the University of Alabama Birmingham was named the host institution.

Not just because UAB has the only Division I soccer program in the state. UAB head coach Mike Getman was a primary leader in getting the NCAA to look at Regions Park outside Birmingham.

Gettman had hoped that his Blazers would advance to play in one of the two College Cups in Hoover.
