Milestone victory! West Florida men’s ead coach Bill Elliott reached career win number 200 while at West Florida in a 2-1 victory over Florida Southern. Now in his 18th season at UWF, Elliott holds a record of 200-90-29 overall (.672), and including two years at Tennessee Wesleyan he is now 217-104-30 all-time. Elliott’s Argonauts kicked off their 17th season in the Gulf South Conference against Union University…..Led by Swedish defender Helena Hansson the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, Embry-Riddle toppled top-ranked and four-time defending national champion Lee, 3-1 in the final game of the Habitat for Humanity Invitational. The loss ended the Lady Flames’ 21-game winning streak and dropped them to #3 in the NAIA Women’s Top 25 behind Concordia (Ore.) and Lindsey Wilson. Embry-Riddle climbed one spot to #4…..The Tampa Bay Rowdies have announced that the club signed a four-year agreement keeping the Rowdies the primary tenant at Al Lang Stadium in downtown St. Petersburg starting with the 2013 season. Al Lang Stadium has been the home of the Rowdies for the 2011 and 2012 NASL seasons in partnership with the City of St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg Baseball Commission. The Rowdies have seen a steady increase in season ticket sales and paid attendance since moving to Al Lang Stadium. Not only did the modern-day Rowdies have the highest total number of paid single game tickets sold in the 2012 season, but season tickets increased by 65% over the 2011 season…..The Tampa Bay Rowdies have signed midfielder Raphael Cox for the rest of the 2012 season. Cox played 43 league matches over two seasons with the Atlanta Silverbacks after playing in six MLS games in 2009 with Real Salt Lake…..The West Florida women’s soccer team swept the Gulf South Conference weekly awards with keeper Sarah Story (Hoover, Ala/Darton) repeating as the GSC Defender of the Week and striker Shelby Bush (Shalimar, Fla./Darton) earning her first GSC Player of the Week honor…..FSU junior goalkeeper Kelsey Wys and Maryland junior forward Hayley Brock have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Players of the Week.
