Flagler College has named Ashley Martin the interim women’s head soccer coach. Martin takes over from Teddy Meyer, who coached the Saints for nine seasons with a 68-82-12 record. The Saints were 6-10-2 overall this past season. The most recent one, held this past November, exceeded that total by $15,000 earning the club a grand total of $60,000. The event, which included a number of sponsors, was held in a private home and included over 400 guests who enjoyed barbecue-style food, the Highwaymen art gallery, a live auction and a evening of live music. The night ended with a spectacular fireworks display. Better than a car wash!…..A soccer mom in Jacksonville, Fla., has been arrested for allegedly bilking thousands of dollars from the Amerlia Island Youth Soccer League. Ronee Malama, 37, is accused of embezzling at lest $60,000 from the legue in which she was the registrar. She is accused of taking the money from registration fees paid by checks over two years. Club officials say another $23,000 in cash is missing, but that is harder to trace…..Jacksonville’s Adriana Rodrigues converted on the fifth penalty kick following 110 minutes of action in the 2013 Atlantic Sun Women’s Soccer Championship to give the Dolphins their third-ever championship title with a 5-3 edge in penalty kicks after the two teams played to a scoreless draw…..Florida Gators freshman Savannah Jordan (Fayetteville, has been called into training camp with the U.S. Under-20 WNT for the final preparations prior to the 2014 CONCAACAF U20 Championship in January. She was invited by head coach Michelle French for the Dec. 14-21 camp in Sunrise, Fla. She is the second freshman in Florida’s 19-year history to be named NSCAA All-American. She was the SEC Offensive POY, with 22 goals, this past season. Gator sophomore Christen Westphal was second team All-America.
