First Soccer HOF Class.
The College of Charleston has established a College of Charleston Soccer Hall of Fame. Included in the inaugural class are three players already in the CofC Athletics HOF; David Jordan (Class of ’85), Kirk Kessler (Class of ’81) and Doug Puffenbarger (Class of ’80).
The fourth member of the soccer HOF’s first induction class is Colin Smoak (1974-1977), who played on the first CofC men’s soccer team. After graduation he served as an assistant coach for the Cougars in 1978, before being named head coach from 1979-1982.
The inductions will be held on Friday, Oct. 12 at the HOF dinner at the TD Arena. The four will be honored with their own individual HOF banners the following evening at halftime of the Cougars match against NCAA defending national champion University of North Carolina Tar Heels.
