After spending the last three seasons developing his game at Ispwich, U.S. U-20 goalkeeper Cody Cropper (Athens, GA) is ready for the challenge of a Premier League club after joining Southampton. Cropper, 19, signed a two-year contract with a club option for an additional year with newly promoted Southampton last month after a successful trial. He is already training regularly with the club’s first team and he expects to be the starter for Southampton’s U-21 team in the new U-21 Premier League…..Marietta’s Julia Holz, a sophomore forward at Appalachian State, has been named Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist in a 4-2 victory over UNC Asheville. Both goals came in the second half as the Apps picked up their third win of the season…..Mercer University sophomore goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh (Ontario, Canada) has been named Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, while Offensive Player of the Week went to Jacksonville junior midfielder Nick Rodriguez (Aurora, CO). Ranjitsingh posted two shutouts in win over Georgia Southern and Georgia State, while Rodriguez had a goal and an assist in a 2-2 tie with Central Florida. Mercer and Jacksonville also shared the A-Sun women’s weekly awards, with Mercer junior forward Casey Barrett (Dublin, OH) being named Offensive POW, and JU freshman GK Hannah Allerton named Defensive POW. Barrett had two goals and an assist in two Mercer wins, including the game-winner against Jacksonville State. Allerton had six saves in posting her first collegiate shutout in a 1-0 win over the College of Charleston….Georgia native Josh Wolff (Stone Mountian, GA), MLS player/assistant coach for D.C. United, underwent a successful microdiscectomy surgery to repair a lower back disc herniation. Wolff has played in nine games (one start) throughout the 2012 season…..The North American Soccer League named Atlanta Silverbacks forward Matt Horth (Akron, OH) as the league’s Offensive Player of the week for scoring both goals in a 2-0 road win over FC Edmonton. He has a team-high eight goals this season.
