Southern Poly is #8 in the first NAIA men’s national rankings…..Georgia native and gold-medalist Kelley O’Hara is scheduled for surgery on her right ankle that will require her to be sidelined for 4-6 months. She has had ankle issues throughout the early part of the NWSL season with Sky Blue FC. Junior Greg Ranjitsingh went the distance in the goal, making eight saves in a 1-0 loss to South Carolina, which won the game on a goal from junior midfielder Asa Kryst…..Georgia State has moved from the Colonial Athletic Association to the Sun Belt Conference and the Panthers were picked to finish third in the women’s preseason poll, tied with Texas State. GSU returns eight starters from 2012. The Sun Belt Conference does not offer championship competition for men’s soccer….Rick Skirvin, has a planned retirement at the end of 2013, as Executive Director of Georgia Soccer. A search for his replacement will be held this fall….The 2013 season opened with a win for the Savannah College of Arts and Design, as Coach Tom Melville’s Bees edged William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 4-3 in overtime. John McAleenan (Northern Ireland) scored the winning goal off an assist from Jordan Trinci-Lyne (England) two minutes into the first overtime period.
