After recently completing her Georgia Bulldog career, goalkeeper Ashley Baker has signed to play with Lincoln Ladies FC of the FA Women’s Super League (FA-WSL) – the highest level of women’s football in England. Baker – born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England and grew up in Lilburn – just wrapped up her redshirt senior season and third year as Georgia’s starter, ending her career with the fourth-most saves in program history with 305. Her senior season included a save percentage of 0.830, 112 stops, and five shutouts for the Bulldogs in 19 appearances. Baker played for England in the U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2008 and 2010 and is now a fixture for the U-23 squad. She was recently one of 29 players and five goalkeepers called into the five-day camp starting Sun., Nov. 11. The U23 camp is just one step away from the full national team…..A former board member for the Columbus Youth Soccer Club was arrested and charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from the non-profit organization. Joy Perez, 33, who was previously named Georgia State Soccer’s Administrator of the Year, was charged with making $129,000 dollars worth of unauthorized bank withdrawals of donated money and registration fees over her three-year term as club treasurer…..Emory University junior Lauren Gorodetsky (Palm City, FL) was named the co-Most Valuable Player of the University Athletic Association (UAA), and was joined by junior Veronica Romero (Tucker, GA) on the all-UAA First Team….The Mercer Bears came up a goal short of their goal of winning the Atlantic Sun Conference championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Division I tournament. Mercer lost the title game 1-0 in overtime to Florida Gulf Coast University. The Bears reached the title match by beating East Tennessee State 4-2 on penalty kicks in the conference tournament semifinals. The game had ended tied at 1-1. Mercer finished the season 11-7-2 overall…..The NJCAA awarded the Darton State College Cavaliers with the National Championship Sportsmanship Award and announced sophomores Troy Tucker and Andrew Palumbo as members of the All-Tournament Team,
