Green Hope Repeats As 4-A Champs

January 15, 2012 by Ray Alley

Jacksonville Wins 3-A State Title
Green Hope, despite significant losses from last year’s 4-A state championship team, fielded a younger team this season with the same results.
The Falcons scored the only goals of the game in the final 14 minutes for a 2-0 victory over Charlotte Myers Park for the NCHSAA 4-A title. The same two schools met in last year’s final, with Green Hope winning 2-1 in overtime.
Green Hope goalkeeper Sam Bissette got the shutout and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
The Falcons finished with a record of 24-2, while the Mustangs went 20-4, while reaching the championship game for the third consecutive season. Myers Park’s only state title came in 2008.
