Ranked In NCAA III.
Emory University was ranked #2 in the NCAA Division III women’s national poll at mid-September after opening the season 4-0-2. Wheaton from Illinois is the top-ranked D-III team.
Emory is coached by former Georgia head coach Sue Patberg, who recently claimed her 100th Emory victory in her eight seasons. She got that with a 6-0 win over Birmingham-Southern College. Overall, during her 19-year career as a collegiate coach, which included stays at the University of Minnesota and the University of Georgia, Patberg has compiled a 246-110-38 record, making 13 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins earned a Top Ten berth in the women’s poll at #7 with Lynchburg ranked #11. Virginia Wesleyan was the other Virginia team in the D-III poll, coming in at #14.
Berry was the only Southern program listed in the men’s Division III poll. The Georgia program was ranked seventeen.
