SAC Men and Women

January 15, 2012 by Ray Alley

SAC Men and Women.

With conference play now underway, Wingate forward Peron Da Silva and Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs have been selected as the SAC Soccer Players of the Week. Da Silva had a pair of game-winning goals, leading Wingate to victories over Lander and Lenoir-Rhyne. For the season, Da Silva has three goals – all of which have been game winners — and an assist.
Scruggs, a senior from Torrance, Calif., got the Lenoir-Rhyne women off to a 1-0 league start by earning a shutout in the Bears’ 4-0 victory over Wingate on Saturday night. The senior stopped nine Bulldogs shots en route to her second shutout of the season. She is currently second in the SAC with a .914 save percentage.
