SEC Newcomers Shine.
It didn’t take long for Texas A&M and Missouri, the two new members of the Southeastern Conference to make an impact on the league. At mid-September the Aggies were ranked #10 nationally after a 6-1-0 start. The Missouri Tigers were 7-1 and ranked #16. By the way, the SEC now has three Tiger teams, with Missouri sharing the mascot with Auburn and LSU.
Since that opening loss, the Aggies have now won nine straight. The latest was a 2-0 win over Auburn. Jordan Day tied the SEC record with her seventh consecutive shutout and seniors Catalina Clavijo and Beth West each tallied their first goals of the season in the win over the Tigers.
Missouri also improved to 9-1-0 with a 2-0 shutout of Vanderbilt. The Tigers are 4-0 in the SEC. After that win, Missouri redshirt freshman defender Lauren Flynn was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.
