U.S. Men To Begin Hexagonal With Three Early On The Road.

With the semifinal round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying in the rear view mirror, the U.S. Men’s National Team learned who it will play and when in next year’s regional Hexagonal.

Six teams will play a round robin schedule. Three will advance to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The #4 finisher will have a second-chance to qualify with a two-game playoff series with the winner from Oceania.

The draw for the final round of qualifying was made on Nov. 7 in Miami. It is important to get off to a good start in the final round of qualifying. You would like to open at home in a friendly venue. Opening at home against regional rival Mexico on a cold February night has worked well for the U.S. in the past.

However, any hopes of hosting arch-rival Mexico in a mid-winter setting in Ohio or Massachusetts came off the boards almost immediately.

Instead, head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and the Americans will travel to Honduras…
