If you want to win a national championship, you had better have an exceptional goalkeeper.

The UNC Tar Heels had one last year in Scott Goodwin when they captured the Division I national title.

And they have an even better one this year. Same guy, Scott Goodwin, now a senior who is putting up impressive stats.

The Raleigh senior who played high school soccer at Broughton, picked up his 17th shutout of the season and 41st in his record-breaking career in the Tar Heels’ 1-0 overtime win over Fairleigh Dickinson in the NCAAs Round of 16.

That sets up a quarterfinal matchup with Indiana in Chapel Hill.
