Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber has announced that D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen’s automatic one-game suspension and fine from his ejection against Montreal has been rescinded. As such, Olsen will be available at the sideline of United’s game against Toronto FC at RFK Stadium this Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. Olsen and Montreal Impact Head Coach Marco Schallibaum were both sent off in the 76th minute of the Black-and-Red’s 2-1 loss to the Impact at Stade Saputo on Aug. 17. Garber suspended Schallibaum one additional game and issued him an additional fine of $5,000 for his repeated misbehavior….The NWSL Washington Spirit has named midfielder Diana Matheson as the 2013 season Most Valuable Player. The 29-year-old Canadian finished the year with a team-high eight goals. Tori Huster, 23, was named Defender of the Year……Josie Seebeck, a sophomore midfielder at Central Michigan University, died Aug. 6 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident outside of Lansing, Mich. three days earlier. Seebeck, who graduated from Ramstein High School in Germany, played her early high school years at McLean HS. The Chippewas’ website said that she was team captain of the McLean MPS Strikers soccer club from 2007-2009, playing club soccer for Clyde Watson. The Seebeck family now lives in Montgomery, AL…The trophy they most want to win this year will be awarded Dec. 15 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa., site of the next NCAA College Cup. But UVa men’s soccer players Zach Carroll, Patrick Foss, Todd Wharton and Ryan Zinkhan can already call themselves national champions. The four Cavaliers played this summer for RVA Football Club, which captured the National Premier Soccer League title with a 2-0 victory over Sonoma County (Calif.) Sol in Richmond. The Richmond-based club, whose coach is Grover Gibson, finished the season with a 10-0-2 record. Four James Madison players, goaleeper Bill Groben, Josh Grant, Gene Daniels and Karel Manrau, also played for RVA.
