Chris Albright never had the high profile national team persona that his fellow University of Virginia alums, John Harkes, Tony Meola and Ben Olsen enjoyed. He did play for the USA 22 times in international competitions. His professional career included 235 Major League Soccer games over 15 seasons. He played with D.C. United, the LA Galaxy, New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls before moving to the Philadelphia Union in 2012. He grew up in Philadelphia, where he attended William Penn Charter School. He was a forward at Virginia and in his early pro career, but was moved to defense by U.S. MNT coach Bruce Arena. He has only played four minutes for the Union this season, which will be his last as professional player. He has announced his retirement at the end of the 2013 season….. Virginia sophomore forward Brittany Ratcliffe (Williamstown, NJ) came off the bench to score two goals, 83 seconds apart to spark the Cavaliers to a 5-0 win over N.C. State. She also had the game-winner as a starter in a 2-0 shutout of North Carolina….The Richmond Kickers have announced that midfielder Joseph Haboush has signed with Lebanese Premier League side Al-Sfa SC. A native of Richmond, Haboush earned five starts in 12 appearances with the Kickers in 2013, en route to the club’s USL PRO regular season championship. Haboush signed with the Kickers after a standout collegiate career at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he played in 56 games with the Rams…..William & Mary freshman Mac Phillips, a goalkeeper from Rocky Mount, Va., was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week after posting back-to-back shutouts over Pittsburgh (2-0) and Northeastern (1-0). Phillips hasn’t allowed a goal over the last 330 minutes and leads the CAA in goals against average (0.59) and shutouts (77)….JMU senior Lauren Wilson was named CAA Player of the Week, scoring three goals, including two game-winners, in JMU’s wins over UNCW (2-1) and College of Charleston (3-0).
