South Carolina United Battery Wins Title.
South Carolina United Battery won all three of its games to advance through the playoffs. The team claimed a 1-0 victory over CASL in its opening game and defeated Kendall SC 3-2 in the semifinals before shutting out Charlotte Soccer Academy 4-0 in the championship contest.
“This was a very strong league, and each game during the season was very competitive,” said South Carolina United Battery coach Matt Parmer. “We knew in order to advance we needed to play our best soccer of the year at the playoffs. Our club is very excited about what this group of players was able to achieve this year.”
With the win, South Carolina United Battery advances to the inaugural National Premier Leagues (NPL) Champions Cup, where NPL national championships will be awarded. That event will be held July 27-31 at Waukegan Sports Park in Waukegan, Ill.
“Our players displayed the commitment, focus and quality during the year to earn the opportunity to represent our league in the NPL Champions Cup,” said Parmer. “The boys are very excited about the upcoming NPL Champions Cup. The boys love to play together and the opportunity to extend our season into July is a real treat for them. We are excited about what the future holds.”
Next season the Southeast Pre-Academy League will expand with the addition of Orlando City Youth SC. An expanded schedule will provide 20 regular season games, three post-season games for the top eight teams, and 10 additional potential games through various showcases.
