Broadbent, Dikranian Selected
For NSCAA HOF Induction.
The NSCAA will acknowledge the many years of service to soccer and achievements as coaches to Ronald Broadbent and Armand “Bob” Dikranian with their nduction into the NSCAA Hall of Fame at the 2013 convention.
The induction wil take place during the NSCAA Awards Banquet on Friday, evening, Jan. 18, 2013 in Indianapolis.
Broadbent compiled an impressive 235-83-47 overall record in 21 years (1059-800 at Spencerport High School in Spencerport, NY. There, his teams won seven consecutive Section 5 titles.
He moved on in 1981 to become the head coach at SUNY-Brockport for three seasons.
Through his active coaching career and well ito his retirement, Broadbent continued to give back to the game. He held a number of sectional high school positions, as well as several positions for the NSCAA, including NSCAA President in 1992.
Over his coaching career he earned many honors, including being named NHSACA High School Coach of the Year in 1980. He received an NSCAA Letter of Commendation in 1997 and the Robert W. Robinson Award in 2000.
This will be his fourth HOF induction, having previously been inducted into the Spencerport HS HOF, the NYSPHSAA HOF and the NY State Section 5 HOF.
Bob Dikranian
Dikranian founded the Southern Connecticut State men’s soccer program in 1966 and over 21 seasons he amassed a 227-94-21 overall record.
His teams appeared in 14 NCAA Division II postseason tournaments, including six straight trips to the semifinals (1978-83). His teams won six NCAA championship and he was twice named NCAA National Coach of the Year.
Retirement, which came in 1989, hasn’t slowed him down. He’s served as an assistant men’s coach at South Florida, women’s assistant coach at Yale, and is currently the Director of Soccer Operations at Yale.
Dikranian has been inducted into the SCSUI Alumni Sports Hall of Fame, the University of Bridgeport Hall of Fame and was a member of the inaugural class of inductees to the Connecticut Soccer HOF in 1999.
