Bulldogs Enjoy A
Championship Year.
The season ended for the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs in Mississippi. It came to an end in the opening round of the NAIA men’s national tournament with a 5-0 loss.
It also came to an end against the team that would go on to win the NAIA national championship, the Belhaven College Blazers.
The loss snapped an 11-game unbeaten streak (10-0-1) for Tennessee Wesleyan, which finished the year with a 14-4-3 record.
The Bulldogs, ranked #23 in the final NAIA national poll, had earned their third trip to nationals after a 5-0 win over Virginia Intermont for the Appalachian Athletic Conference men’s soccer championship.
Senior midfielder Luke Winter sparked the Bulldogs’ AAC title run with five goals and a pair of assists in three tournament games. He was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
