Carolina RailHawks President Curt Johnson, former Houston Dynamo defender Eddie Robinson and the late Barry Howard will be inducted into the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame on Saturday evening, January 26 in Greensboro, N.C. Johnson, a native of Raleigh, also served as General Manager of MLS’s Sporting Kansas City. Robinson, who grew up in Greensboro, NC, played collegiate soccer at UNC Chapel Hill, and Howard, a native of Buies Creek, was instrumental in starting high school soccer in his home town, and also coached at the collegiate level at Campbell University. The induction dinner is open to the public. Reservations came be made and tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ncsoccerhalloffame.com…..Laura Kerrigan, girls head coach at Cary High School and a member of the NSCAA Academy staff, has been named the winner of the Mike Berticelli Excellence in Coaching Education award. Kerrigan, former women’s head soccer coach at N.C. State, played collegiate soccer for the Wolfpack. She finished her N.C. State playing career as the program’s all-time leader in goals scored (53) and total points (135)…..Toronto FC continued reshaping its roster by acquiring former U.S. under-20 international Gale Agbossoumonde, a central defender, through a weighted lottery. “Boss” earned a senior team cap with the U.S. MNT in 2010 against South Africa at the age of 19. He has played, mostly on loan, with five clubs in the U.S., Portugal, Sweden and Germany since turning pro in 2009, and was a member of the NASL Carolina RailHawks last year after unremarkable stints with professional teams in Sweden and Germany. The 21-year-old Togolese-born American has played 30 times for his country at the youth level….Alexis Shaffer (Cary/Green Hope HS) and Caroline Gentry (Raleigh/Leesville Road HS), both forwards who completed their high school careers in the spring of 2012, have been named to the 2012 NSCAA Girls High School All-America team and will be honored at the All-America Luncheon at the NSCAA convention in mid-January in Indianapolis. Gentry is a two-time All-America.
