Bradlee Baladez, who completed his junior season for the South Carolina men’s soccer team in early November, has signed a professional contract with MLS club FC Dallas. Baladez, a native of Dallas, was signed as a Homegrown Player. The 6-1 forward was an all-conference and NSCAA All-South honoree this past season. In his three seasons with the Gamecocks, Baladez started 59 games, scored 17 goals and added eight assists….University of South Carolina goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo was named Canadian U-20 Female Player of the Year for the 2012 soccer season, in an annoucement by Canada Soccer. The honor was decided in a vote shared by national-team coaches (50%) and other Canadian coaches (50%). D’Angelo, who started 14 matches and posted three clean sheets while earning second-team All-SEC honors, is one of 10 starters returning for 2013 edition of the USC women’s soccer team….The College of Charleston Board of Trustees voted 12-5 to accept an inviation to join the Colonial Athletic Association. The Cougars are expected to leave the Southern Conference to join the CAA for the 2013-14 season, but would face a $600,000 exit fee for leaving with less than two years’ notice…..Graduated senior forward Nestor Jaramilo (Lexington/Newman School) has been named NSCAA High School All-America for the second consecutive year. He was joined on the 2012 boys A-A team by junior midfielder Koty Millard (Elgin/Cardinal Newman). Selected on the 2012 NSCAA Girls All-America team are graduated senior Stephanie DeVita (Simpsonville/Hillcrest) and junior Chelsea Drennan (Anderson/Hanna HS). All four will be honored at the All-America Luncheon at the NSCAA convention in mid-January in Indianapolis…..Bad news for former Clemson Tiger Oguchi Onyewu. His Spanish professional club, Malaga, has been suspended from European competition for next year for failing to meet all of its payroll and tax obligations in a timely manner.
