Carl Cooley, who has served on the Lexington Soccer League BOD for the past eight years, was recently appointed Vice President Secretary/Treasurer of Tennessee Soccer……TSSA will be represented by Sam Colley (97), Katelyn Cooley (97), Chloe Maize (98), Mackenzie Peebles (98), Sydney Webber (98) and Karlie Paschall (99) at the upcoming 2013 USYS National Training Event being held in Phoenix, Arizona…..Tennessee Soccer’s Kat Nigro (Livingston, TN) earned a NCAA Division I championship ring as a freshmen member of the UNC Tar Heels team that defeated Penn State 4-1 for its 21st NCAA women’s soccer national championship. Nigro played in 20 of the Tar Heels 23 games, scoring one goal and adding one assist…..Cumberland University’s women’s soccer finished a record season by being ranked #14 nationally in the final 2012 NAIA Women’s Soccer poll. The Bulldogs, under third-year head coach Gavin McKinney, set a school single-season records for victories (19), conference wins (8) after going 19-3-0 overall and 8-1 in the Mid-South Conference. The Bulldogs also won their first-ever conference championship with a 2-1 win over eventual national champion Lindsey Wilson. Freshman Kelsey Langille (Alberta, Canada) led the nation in points (82), goals (37), shots per game (7.18) and shots on goal per game (4.18) and was second in the NAIA in game-winning goals (8)…..Junior midfielder Katherine Beuerlein (Knosville/Farragut HS) and senior forward Meg Howard (Brentwood/Brentwood HS) have been named to the 2012 NSCAA Girls High School All-America Team. Knoxville senior midfielder Tim Baker (Catholic HS) and senior forward Arturo Rocha (Cleveland/The McCallie School) were named to the NSCAA Boys High School All-America team. All four will be honored at the All-America Luncheon at the NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis.
