Atlanta is one of 13 cities that will host games in the CONCACF Gold Cup this summer. The Gold Cup will feature 12 teams, including the U.S., Mexico and Canada, and is set for July 7-28 with games played all across the United States. Mexico is the defending champion.
Specific games and game dates have not yet been announced for each host city, but that is expected by the end of February.
The Atlanta game will be held at the Georgia Dome. While Atlanta has hosted a number of soccer games in the Georgia Dome, this marks the first time that facility, or the city, has hosted a Gold Cup game.
Natural grass will be installed at the Dome for the game.
