Teams from Southern California swept the four US Youth Soccer ODP national championships, played the first weekend in March at the FC Dallas Stadium Complex in Frisco, TX.
Cal South’s 1996 Girls earned their second consecutive national title with a 3-0 win over Indiana. A year ago they beat Virginia’s ODP team 1-0 in the title match. Indiana shutout Georgia to advance to the 2013 championship game.

In the 1997 age group the Cal South girls slipped by Eastern New York for their title, while the Cal South boys edged Florida 2-1.
In the 1997 boys final, Florida took a 1-0 lead on Michael Charak’s second-half goal, but Eddie Cabrera tied it in the 80th minute for the California team, and Alexis Diaz got the game-winner in overtime.
Florida reached the championship game with a 2-0 win over Michigan on a pair of Jonathon Lewis goals.
Georgia finished third in the 1996 girls division, beating New Jersey 3-2 in the consolation game. Amanda Vocelka scored all three Georgia goals, getting the winner in the 81st minute.
The North Carolina boys shared third place in the 1996 boys division with Wisconsin as they played to a scoreless draw in their consolation game. North Carolina played a solid game in the semifinals, but lost to Cal South 1-0.
Michigan won the 1997 girls consolation game 3-2 over North Texas, and the Michigan 1997 boys were also consolation winners, beating Virginia 1-0 for third place.
