South Carolina native, Alex Ramsey, currently attending Louisiana State University, is coming home to join the Carolina Elite Cobras along with Rose Hull, Alejandra Chirino, and Sarah Jacobs.
Hull, the teammate of recently signed Furman standout Stephanie DeVita, ended her 2012 season as the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year, while Ramsey, a standout at right back for the Tigers in 2012, helped lead the LSU defensive unit with a 1.20 goals against-average.
Ramsey is a native of Rock Hill, S.C., and attended Rock Hill High School. She is a three-time Gatorade/ESPN RISE South Carolina Player of the Year.
Hull, a native of Brentwood, Tennessee, is a graduate of Ravenwood High School and was a three-time All-District and All-State competitor that posted 56 career wins and a 0.825 goals against average.
“Rose has a great presence in the goal,” said Cobras coach Sandy Burris. “She also had a great freshman year as a Paladin and we are excited to see what she does in the net. She will have a chance to play behind a great back line and train with Reuter, which will help her develop as a goalkeeper and leader.
“I am happy that Alex is able to play with the Cobras this summer. She has enjoyed a great career on the field for LSU and is also a local product that I had the pleasure of coaching in ODP. She is hardworking and raises the work rate of the players around her every time she steps on the field.”
Chirino, a former South Carolina State University standout and a W-League veteran, is a midfielder who formerly played for the California-based Pali Blues.
A native of Los Angeles, Chirino attended Pasadena HS and was named to multiple Great West Conference academic teams during her collegiate career.
“Ali is one of the hardest working soccer players I know,” sad Burris. “She brings W-League experience having played for Pali Blues last year. It has been fun watching her develop over the last four years as a college player. I am extremely happy she has decided to stay on the East Coast to play with the Cobras this summer.”
Jacobs, a South Carolina native, was a four-year starter at Clemson University where she was team captain her junior and senior year and voted team MVP in 2010. Jacobs played her high school career at Riverside High School, winning a state championship in 2006 and was named to multiple South Carolina All-Region and All-State teams.
“Sarah is someone we are familiar with. She played with us during our promotional year and when we joined the W-League in 2011,” Cobras Vice President Teresa Gordon said. “We know that she brings a high level of play to the game and we are looking forward to see what she can do with the team Sandy has put together.”
The Cobras kick off the 2013 season hosting division rival and the 2012 W-League Champion Atlanta Silverbacks on Sunday, May 12 at the MESA Soccer Complex.
