Is It Over For Bocanegra?

March 15, 2013 by Ray Alley

With glaring questions regarding the U.S. defense for upcoming World Cup qualifiers, U.S. MNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann decided not to include captain Carlos Bocanegra on the roster for the next two games.
Bocanegra is reported to be healthy. He did not get off the bench in the opening game of the regional hexagonal, a 2-1 loss to Honduras. Does his exclusion from the team when his experience and leadership might have been an asset, indicate that his career as a U.S. MNT player is at an end?
“We know we have a big task ahead of us, and we are confident our group will get the job done,” said Klinsmann. “Obviously there are many players out with injuries, and that means the next person in line has a chance to step up.”
