Former University of Virginia standout Will Bates, a Chester, VA, native, has signed a contract with Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer.
Bates, 22, was selected by Sounders FC as the fifth overall selection in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. He has been training with Seattle since early February.
Bates appears in 77 matches over four seasons at Virginia, scoring 46 goals with 10 assists. He becomes the 44th former Cavalier to play in MLS.
