Technical Director – Alabama Soccer Association
Job Description:
The Technical Director is a full-time position for Alabama Soccer Association (ASA). We have a current membership base of 15,000 registered players, youth/adult, and approximately 2,000 active coaches, referees, and administrators through 40 local member organizations across the state. The main responsibility of the Technical Director is to promote the mission of ASA and develop, implement, and manage day-day operations associated with it.
Areas of Direct Responsibility:
Coach Education, Olympic Development, Outreach Programs:
- Prepare and manage an annual budget for state programs
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures as well as a calendar of events
- Hire, develop, evaluate, and manage staff coaches
- Instruct state and national level education courses
- Develop and deliver coaching resources/handbooks to be publicized on website and e-newsletters
- Implement curriculum, as well as maintain progress of Outreach programs
- Visit clubs/associations to assess their developmental needs
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high level of energy and positive approach to player development at all levels
- Assist in the delivery of member benefits to current and prospective club/associations
- Be in attendance at Board of Director’s meetings and ASA events
- Serve on various committees, as deemed appropriate
- Become knowledgeable of ASA Constitution, Bylaws, and Policies
Requirements:
- USSF ‘A’ License
- USSF National ‘Youth’ License
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Preferred experience in teaching education courses, USSF and/or NSCAA
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication and motivational skills
- Demonstrated broad and diverse coaching ability at all ages and levels of play
- Demonstrated ability to genuinely listen and properly respond to membership concerns
- Demonstrated ability, commitment and willingness to travel the state of Alabama
- Demonstrated ability in a Microsoft environment, which includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must pass a background check
- Ability to meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation
- Work requires physical effort involving intermittent driving, standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching and running
- Occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to read, write, and interpret written documents
