Tiffany Roberts Shaydak has become the fifth women’s head soccer coach at the University of Central Florida.
She replaces Amanada Cromwell as the Knights’ head coach after spending the last six years as head coach at VCU, alongside her husband Tim Sahaydak, who will join her on the UCF staff.
Cromwell resigned earlier to become the new women’s head soccer coach at UCLA.
She inherits a program that has won 22 conference championships and made 17 NCAA playoff appearances, 11 since 1999.
“The women’s soccer program here has had an incredible tradition and success,” said Roberts Shaydak. “This is a huge job. The standards of excellence have been unbelievable. But I love a challenge.”
Roberts Shaydak was a collegiate All-American at the University of North Carolina where she played on three national championship Tar Heels teams.
She was also a veteran of the U.S. Women’s National Team, earning 110 caps with 60 starts. She debuted with the national team at age 16. She was also an Olympic gold medal winner.
Tim Shaydak served as his wife’s Associate Head Coach at VCU, and will hold that position at UCF. He also played collegiate soccer at UNC before leaving to begin a professional career in Major League Soccer.
At VCU the Shaydaks guided the Rams to a 53-50-19 overall record, including three appearances in the conference championship match as members of the Colonial Athletic Association and last year in the Atlantic 10.
VCU was 11-3-4 in the last 18 matches of the 2012 season. The Shaydaks were named 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Co-Coaches of the Year.
