US Youth & US Club Championships
With June rapidly approaching, youth soccer across the United States turns to US Youth Soccer and US Club regional and national competitions.
The four regions of US Youth Soccer will hold their regional championships in late June with winners advancing to the national championships in Overland Park, Kansas.
But first, the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup competitions get underway, with the final destination for those winners being the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup national championship in Auburndale, FL, on July 10-14.
Region I is the first of the four to hold regional competition, May 24-27 in Manchester, NH. Region I is comprised of ? state associations, including Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia along its southern boundary.
Decatur, Ala, will host the Region III Presidents Cup, which includes the Southeast USA state associations, plus Texas and Oklahoma, on June 6-9.
Region II, of which Kentucky in a member, holds its competition on June 3-16 in Overland Park, Kan., and Boise, Idaho will host Region IV on June 11-16.
The Florida Youth Soccer Association is the host of the US Youth Presidents Cup national championships.
Overland Park will also host the US Youth Soccer National Championships on July 22-28. Not only will each of the four regions send their State Cup champions to the finals, 32 US Youth Soccer National League teams have earned spots in the national finals.
Those come from the U15, U16, U17 and U18 boys and girls age groups.
Eleven teams clinched their position as division championships prior to the final weekend of play on March 15-17 in Las Vegas, where the final five division champions were named, along with 11 other qualifiers.
Region III will open regional qualifying for the four regions in Edmond, OK, June 21-26, with Region I holding its competition in Kingston, RI, at the University of Rhode Island, June 27-July 2.
Region II is set to play its championships in Des Moines, Iowa, June 21-26, and Region IV will travel to Honolulu, HI, June 17-23.
The US Youth Soccer National Champions will consist of US Youth Soccer Regional Champions in the Undner-13 through Under-19 boys and girls age divisions, as well as the National League qualifiers.
This year marks the addition of the Under-13 age groups.
California-South had the most teams advancing to the US Youth Soccer finals through the National League with seven. Georgia and Maryland advanced three teams each, while Florida and Virginia had two each.
Six teams from the National League hope to repeat as US Youth Soccer National Champions in 2012. The U15 Girls Blue Division champion MSC Coyottes Green from Maryland look to defend after going 5-1-1 in this year’s National League.
The Under-17 Girls Red champion BRTC 95 Elite from Virginia as out to defend their national title after finishing undefeated with six wins and one tie this year. The U-15 Boys Bethesda Lions from Maryland make a return trip to the national after finishing first this year in their National League division at 4-0-3.
From Georgia, the GSA Phoenix 97 Red advance as group winners this year, while Concorde Fire Elite was runnerup in its U-16 boys division despite going undefeated. Georgia’s Concorde Fire Elite won a national championship in 2011, and is back in the Under-18 boys division.
Florida advanced the Tampa Bay United 97 Premier to the national finals in the U-15 girls age group, along with the U-15 Sunrise Elite 97/98.
