Blowout In Cleveland

June 23, 2013 by Ray Alley

Belgium brought their “A Team” to Cleveland for a friendly against the United States[show_disconnected][show_to accesslevel=’Subscriber’]. The U.S. fielded a squad that was without most of its European-based players and paid the price in a disappointing 4-2 loss. The Belgians exposed the American weaknesses in the back and broke the game open with three second half goals.
Geoff Cameron’s header off a Clint Dempsey assist tied the game 1-1 before halftime, and Dempsey’s penalty kick in the 80th minute made the score look like the game was closer than it actually was.
