Corey Ashe’s Leg Injury

June 23, 2013 by Ray Alley

Corey Ashe got a call from U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann for the May training camp[show_disconnected][show_to accesslevel=’Subscriber’]. He had hoped to get his first full national team cap in the June friendlies and World Cup qualifiers, but he had to withdraw with a groin injury.
Named to the U.S. Gold Cup roster, the Virginia native and former UNC Tar Heel, may have to withdraw once again after suffering a thigh injury in his Houston Dynamo’s 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls. One of the better left backs in MLS, Ashe would have to challenge DaMarcus Beasley and Edgar Castillo for Gold Cup playing time.
On the other side of the defense, right back Timmy Chandler missed the last six weeks of the Bundesliga season, and is likely to be out through the end of the USA’s World Cup qualifying matches with a torn knee ligament.
