Wambach, a five-time winner of the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year award, has launched fundraiser to benefit Florida’s TOPSoccer program. Players who raise $250 for the FYSA TOPSoccer program can attend the event with a parent or guardian and have lunch with Wambach. The top 10 fundraisers will sit with Wambach dring luch, and the top two will sit next to her. Wambach was a first-team collegiate All-America at the University of Florida. Originally from Colombia, dela Rosa spent three years on the varsity team at Miami Springs High School, and two years at Miami-Dade Community College before joining the Owls from 1989-91. He coached at the high school and club levels before accepting the positon on FAU head coach Kos Donev’s staff…..FAU sophomore forward Claire Emslie represented Scotland, her home country, in the second round of qualifying for the women’s European Under-19 Championships. She scored a goal in her team’s 4-2 win over Ukraine…..Jacksonville Universeity men’s head coach Ryan Pratt filled some holes in his lineup with a 15-player recruiting class that included five local players from Jacksonville: defender Kevan Wright (Bartram Trail HS), midfielders Christopher Azar (Bishop Kenny HS), Riley Perrin (Bishop Kenny HS) and Adam Stenson (The Bolles school) and forward Kacper Grzeszczak (Mandarin HS)…..Eric Sims, who led the Gaither HS boys to 10 playoff appearances in 12 seasons, has resigned as coach. He continus as Executive Direxctor of the Tampa Bay United Soccer Club.
