Championships To Be Held In Overland Park, Kansas
Region III will be represented by 14 regional representatives at the US Youth Soccer National Championships, July 23-28 in at the Overland Park Soccer Complex in Overland Park, Kansas.
This tournament and its Under-19 boys championship marks the 78th anniversary of the James P. McGuire Cup, which is the oldest trophy in American youth sports.
Under-13 Girls: Liverpool 00 Elite from North Texas defeated Oklahoma Footbll Club 00, 3-2, to get to the national championship. Lauren Tovy’s seven goals in regionals led the team.
Under-14 Girls: Georgia’s Tophat 17 Gold outscored opponents 21-2 in five games to win the Region III championship. Reagan Glisson led her team in scoring with five goals.
Under-15 Girls: Tennessee SC 16, coached by former Vanderbilt head coach Ronnie Woodard, won their fourth Tennessee state championship and second consecutive Region III title, behind five goals from Karlie Paschall.
Under-16 Girls:[show_disconnected][show_to accesslevel=’Subscriber’] The 97 Louisiana Fire Navy won its third straight Louisiana State Cup to move on to the R-III tournament where they won their title match 1-0. This is the first Louisiana team to win a Region III title and advance to nationals.
Under-17 Girls: AHFC 96 from South Texas won the Region III title with a 1-0 victory over Tampa Bay United Premier from Florida. This is their first trip to nationals.
Under-18 Girls: Oklahoma FC 96 is making its first trip to nationals after winning regionals for the first time.They beat Lonestar Red from South Texas, 3-2 in the final.
Under-19 Girls: The NASA 12 Elite II return to the nationals after winning the regonal championship. After both the NASA and Tampa Bay United Premier Girls 93 tied with 2-0-1 group records, the Georgia team earned the national berth with a 2-1 win.
Under-13 Boys: United FA 00 Elite will represent Georgia and Region III in their first year of eligibility for a national championship. Carlos Reyes led United, which beat North Texas’ Andromeda 00 Red, 2-0, in the final, with five goals in the tournament.
Under-14 Boys: The R-III champions are Solar Chelsea 99 Red from North Texas. They avenged their only tournament loss with a 3-0 win over South Texas’ Texas Rush 99 Prep in the title game.
Under-15 Boys: FC Dallas Premier 98 actually lost the Region III championship game 3-0 to Sunrise Elite 97/98, but advanced to nationals because Sunrise had already qualified through the US Youth Soccer National League. Both teams are in the national tournament.
Under-16 Boys: NASA 15 Elite won its first Georgia State Cup by defeating 97 Norcross Fury Premier 3-1, and then reached the Region III championship game. There they lost to GSA Phoenix 97 Red, but advanced as the regional rep because the GSA team had already qualified via the US Youth Soccer National League. Both teams are in the national tournament.
Under-17 Boys: North Carolina’s Triangle United Gold captured the R-III title with a 1-0 victory over the West Pines Strikers from Florida in the regional final. TUSA had advanced to regionals as the N.C. state qualifier because the N.C. State Cup champion, NCA Alliance 98, qualified via Southern Premier League East.
Under-18 Boys: Team Boca from Florida went through regionals without giving up a single goal, beating the 95 Lions White from South Texas 4-0 in the title game. Team Boca advanced to regionals with their first state cup title. This was their first regional title and first trip to Nationals. Yaincy Gutierrz led all scorers in the regionals with five goals, half of all scored by Team Boca.

Third year playing together for Plantation Copa, and made their first trip to regionals with their first Florida State Cup title. Defeated the Vestavia Steamers 94 Black from Alabama, 2-1, in the final after having lost 5-2 to them in group play earlier in the tournament.
