Ask the South Carolina girls who celebrated scoring the equalizer in stoppage time to tie the North Carolina all-stars 3-3 in the 2013 Clash of the Carolinas at Backbaud Stadium on Daniel Island, SC.

North Carolina took a 2-0 lead in the first half of the girls game and appeared to have the game in hand.
Chelsea Drennan of T.L. Hanna assisted with a pass to Faith Lifer of Hilton Head that she finished to cut the lead to 2-1 to give some life to a South Carolina comeback.
Kendall Fishclein of Lake Norman headed in a cross from Christina Gibbons of Cardinal Gibbon HS in Raleigh to give the Tar Heels a 3-1 margin.
Megan Robertson, who was the South Carolina MVP, cut the score to 3-2 in the 72nd minute, setting the stage for the final seconds heroics on a header by Northwestern High School’s Lauren Watts.
She got on the end of a cross from Robertson and hammered it in the back on the goal to seal the 3-3 draw.
Gibbons, who was the North Carolina MVP and is a Duke signee, scored the first two goals for the North Carolina all-stars.
“The South Carolina girls haven’t won in four years,” Watts said to a Post & Courier reporter after the game. “Just to get a tie shows we can still compete with them.”
N.C. now leads the girls series 5-1-1.
In the boys game Gary O’Neill from Ashley HS in Wilmington gave the Tar Heels a 1-0 lead in the 65th minute and was named the team’s MVP.
Aaron Sparks from Jacksonville High made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal in the 78th minute.
North Carolina leads the boys series 3-1-3.
