Lutzenkirchen’s Club Team Wins U-19 National Title

August 7, 2013 by Ray Alley

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama sophomore defender Abby Lutzenkirchen helped lead her NASA Elite 12 club team to a national title on Sunday at the 2013 United States Youth Soccer National Championships in Overland Park, Kan. As a result of her play, Lutzenkirchen was named to the event’s “Best 11 Team,” given to the top 11 players at the championships.

Lutzenkirchen and her Georgia-based NASA 12 Elite team earned the Under-19 Girls title after defeating So Cal Blues Dido, 2-1, in overtime.

As a true freshman in 2012, Lutzenkirchen made an immediate impact as she started all 19 matches for the Crimson Tide. She logged 1,529 minutes and helped her team post five shutouts on the season.
