BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —- Nine home matches, including a contest against defending NCAA champion Indiana on Sept. 6, highlight the 2013 UAB men’s soccer schedule, Blazers’ head coach Mike Getman announced on Wednesday.
The Blazers will go against seven teams that participated in the 2012 NCAA Soccer Championship and will face five squads that finished ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 in 2012 (No. 1 Indiana, No. 10 New Mexico, No. 14 Tulsa, No. 23 Charlotte and No. 25 VCU).
“Last year, we had the ninth most-difficult schedule in the country and this season will be even tougher,” Getman said. “We expect the challenges we will face all season to prepare us for postseason play.”
