The Martin Methodist RedHawks are ranked #12 nationally in the NAIA preseason women’s rankings[show_disconnected][show_to accesslevel=’Subscriber’]. They were voted third in the Southern States Athletic Conference preseason poll, behind the #1 Mobile Lady Rams. Mobile is ranked #7 nationally.
The 2013 season marks a transition for Martin Methodist into the SSAC, after winning the TransSouth championship in 2012.
In the preseason the RedHawks, who have rebuilt their roster with a number of freshmen and transfers, played D-I Middle Tennessee State to a scoreless draw.
Lee University, a fixture at the top of the NAIA national women’s rankings in recent years, have moved on to begin a transition to NCAA and are not listed on any of the national polls.
