Atlantic Sun Conference
Non-conference competition has taken a toll on A-Sun men’s team records through the first four weeks of the 2014 regular season. North Florida and Northern Kentucky are the only teams that have won more than they have lost. North Florida is 4-2-1, while Northern Kentucky, which is ineligible for the A-Sun Championship due to reclassification, is 3-2-3.
[show_disconnected][show_to accesslevel=’Subscriber’] North Florida’s Jean Rivaroli and Northern Kentucky’s A.J. Fleak both collected their second career Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards. Rivaroli had two goals in a 3-2 loss to AU, and Fleak accomplished the rare feat of scoring a goal as a goalkeeper as he scored the game-winner against Wright State on a punt.
South Atlantic Conference
Queens sits atop the SAC men’s standings at 2-0. Coker, Lincoln Memorial, Lenoir-Rhyne and Anderson have yet to lose in the conference. Queens has scored 18 goals, eight in SAC play. Freshman Erick Suarez leads the league and ranks tied for third in the nation with seven goals.
Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper Stefan Dill posted back-to-back shutouts against North Georgia (2-0) and Wingate (1-0). The Bears’ senior has a 0.64 goals allowed average.
South Atlantic Conference
Limestone has gotten off to a 5-1 start and holds a 2-0 record in Conference Carolinas play. Lees-McRae, at 4-3, is the only other conference team that has posted a winning record through the fourth week of the season.
Erskine’s goalkeeper Roberto De La Vina was recently named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week after going 270 minutes without allowing a goal. That includes a 0-0 draw against Lander, the nation’s leading scoring team in Division II.
Erskine, Limestone and Lees-McRae are all 2-0 in conference play.
Peach Belt Conference
Clayton State’s Alhagi Toure has been named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year after scoring a pair of goals in two games. Touri leads the PBC in scoring with six goals and 13 points.
Young Harris’s Pace Craig was named the PBC Defender of the Week.
