After the non-conference half of the Southern Conference regular season, Elon has positioned itself at the top of the standings with only one loss in eight games (5-1-2). Brief Notes From The SoCon
• The Citadel was unbeaten at home (2-0-2) after a 2-2 tie with Winthrop. Ana Mesa’s goal tied the game with eight minutes left in regulation.
• Davidson coach Greg Ashton is four wins away from reaching the 100-win milestone for his career at Davidson. The Wildcats snapped a four-game skid with a 1-0 OT win over Charlotte.
• Elon goalkeeper Kate Murphy was named SoCon Player of the Week leading the Phoenix to a 1-0-1 record, posting 13 saves and a 0.45 gaa.
• Furman’s India Robinson has eight assists in eight games this season including seven in the Paladins’ last four matches. Sophomore Stephanie DeVita has scored in four straight games, and has six goals on the season.
• The UNCG Spartans opened the season 4-1, but have lost three straight going into SoCon play. UNCG lost four of five a year ago, but rebounded by going 9-1-1 in league play.
• Chattanooga has topped its wins total from last year with four in non-conference play.
• The Western Carolina Catamounts recorded their fourth shutout of the season with a 2-0 win over Mercer.
• Wofford coach Amy Kiah won her 97th career game in a 2-1 win over Presbyterian.
