Freshman Daija Griffin (Piscataway, NJ), with two goals, is the only Gamecock with more than one.
On the other end of the field junior Sabrina D’Angelo (Ontario, Canada) has been superb in goal, having allowed only three for a 0.33 goals allowed average. She has seven shutouts.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks men’s team has started slower, posting a 2-4-2 mark through the first eight games of the season.
In the 27th edition of the Gamecock Classic, South Carolina played 220 minutes of soccer and finished the weekend 0-0-2.
Sophomore midfielder Jeffrey Rorda scored his second goal of the season in the fifth minute of a 1-1 draw with South Florida.
Less than 48 hours late, the Gamecocks played Dartmouth to a scoreless draw.
The Gamecocks open the Conference USA portion of the schedule against Charlotte, which returns to C-USA after seven seasons in the Atlantic 10. A year ago the Gamecocks went 2-5-1 in conference play while posting a 5-11-2 overall record.
