U.S. MNT defender Michael Orozco was quoted, after the U.S. 3-2 win over Panama that FC Dallas striker Blas Perez and other Panama players asked him and his U.S. teammates to pull back to make sure the Los Canaleros got the win.

A win was worth a last chance at qualifying for Brazil ’14, but the U.S. rallied for two goals in extra time to earn the win, and eliminate the Panamanians.

“In the stadium all the people were shouting and Blas even said to me, ‘Drop back, no?'”, Orozco told Univision on his return to Mexico. “But we had to play. This is soccer and the team that wins, wins.

Orozco scored the first U.S. goal in the 54th minute. His first-ever U.S. goal was the game-winner against Mexico to secure the first U.S. win at Azteca, which he said made him one of the most hated men in Mexico.
