Jurgen Klinsmann has had his eye on Julian Green, 18, for quite some time. The German American teenager, plays in Germany with Bayern Munich’s reserves. He is the lead- ing scorer with 13 goals[show_disconnected][show_to accesslevel=’Subscriber’]. No small achievement since Bayern Munich has won the German title 23 times, the German Cup 16 times, and has been crowned champions of Europe five times. Last year the club won all three. Green was born in Tampa, FL, to an American father and German mother. He has lived in Germany most of his life.
He played for the U.S. U-18s last year in a friendly. He has also played for Germany’s U19s in three qualifying matches. He can play at the senior level for either country, but will need to apply to FIFA for a one-time switch in allegiance to appear for the U.S. MNT. How- ever, he will be on the U.S. MNT roster, at least for training, at the European training camp be- fore friendlies in Europe against Scotland and Austria.
