The United States will face Trinidad & Tobago, Guatemala and Canada in Group B play in the upcoming CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s Championship, hosted by Jamaica..
The draw also put host Jamaica, Mexico, Haiti and El Salvador in Group A of the eight-team tournament.
The tournament will take place from Oct. 30-Nov. 9 and will be played entirely at the Catherine Hall Stadium at the Montego Bay Sports Complex. The USA opens the competition on Oct. 31 against Trinidad & Tobago, will face Guatemala on Nov. 2 and finish group play against Canada on Nov. 4.
The semifinal matches take place Nov. 7 and the Championship and Third-Place Match on Nov. 9.
With CONCACAF member Costa Rica hosting the fourth FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup next March, this tournament will send its two finalists to the tournament, which will be held from March 15-April 5, 2014 in four venues.
“Obviously, we are excited to have our road identified and know who and when we will play during qualifying,” said U.S. head coach B.J. Snow, who attended the draw. Just four countries have qualified for the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup so far. The three South American qualifiers are Venezuela, Colombia and Paraguay, who join host Costa Rica.
