NCISAA 3-A Champions
North Raleigh Christian (16-3-3), seeded #5, beat fourth-seeded Charlotte Country Day (13-3-1) 3-1 for the private school Class 3-A championship.
Junior Nathan Pike had a pair of goals for the winners who had a 3-0 lead before Charlotte Country Day got on the scoreboard.
Forsyth Country Day upset #1 Greensboro Day 2-1 in the quarterfinals, while second-seeded High Point Christian Weslyan was eliminated in the semifinals, 1-0 by CCDS.
NCISAA 2-A Champions
Fayetteville Academy (17-7-0) captured the program’s 15th NC Independent School’s Athletic Association boys state title with a golden goal in overtime. It was their third consecutive state championship.
Bruno Lazaro had the game-winner, giving the Eagles a 2-1 championship over previously undefeated Caldwell Academy (20-1).
NCISAA 1-A Champions
Top-seeded Grace Christian School (27-2-1) ran the playoff table to capture the NCISAA Class 1-A state title with a 4-2 victory over Hickory Christian Academy (13-6-1) in double overtime.
Grace scored two goals in the last five minutes of OT for their first NCISAA state soccer championship.
Joe Umutia scored the winning goal off an assist from Victor Mondragon, who converted a penalty kick for the final 4-2 score.
